Left: F/Lt Waclaw Wilczewski
Not strictly a village character but he did crash his Hawker Hurricane
fighter plane on the park during WWII.
As a S/Ldr, he was shot down over France on 8/11/1941 and captured –
he spent the rest of the war as a POW and then emigrated to
Venezuela where he eventually died in 1982 aged 74.
